The capybaras of Nordelta
In 2021 the capybaras took over a luxury gated neighbourhood near Buenos Aires, and Argentina spent weeks arguing about who had invaded whom.
In Nordelta, in the Tigre area, capybaras began moving through the gardens in large groups: they ate lawns, faced off with dogs, caused traffic accidents. Specialists pointed out the detail that settled the argument: the neighbourhood was built on the wetland where they already lived.
The case became a symbol, jokes and posters included, and it stands as one of the clearest examples of what happens when a city grows over the animals. The game does not pretend to be neutral here: it is on the capybara's side.
In the game
Eat the lawns of the gardens and the golf course, escaping the dogs and the guard, until you reach the lake. A fence is worked around through the gate or dug under — slowly, and preferably with nobody watching.
